Loreto Diving
In 1697, a Jesuit priest by the name of Juan Maria Salvatierra claimed Loreto as California's first settlement. The beaches of Loreto were sought out by the Mexican government in the 1970s to be one of Mexico's premier beach destinations. The region of Loreto was changed forever with the trans-peninsular highway opening in 1973.
Rugged
Sierra La Giganta mountains provide a picturesque backdrop
for the quaint fishing village of Loreto.
Sport fishing is the main draw in Loreto
and you can try your luck at catching some yellowtail, dorado,
marlin or sailfish. The crystalline clear water is also ideal
for sailing, waterskiing or windsurfing. Or check out some
of Mexico's finest tennis courts and the new 18-hole seaside
golf course.
