Shopping in Ensenada
In 1888, the Dominicans founded the first winery in the
Ensenada region. Today this region is known to produce 90% of
Mexico's wine. This port town has also been highly influenced by the
bar of Hussong's Cantina. After this bar opened in 1892, development
in this area really began to increase.
Situated on Mexico's Baja Peninsula, Ensenada offers
festive shops along Main Street and an old city prison that's now a
museum focusing on the
area's
Aztec history. Ensenada's breezy climate invites dining on
delectable seafood, viewing the wonderful gold coast and sipping
cervezas in lively cantinas. The Riviera Pacifica with the
Bar of the Seven Sins, built in the 1920s and beautifully
restored, was once a haven for movie stars and millionaires.
Take a stroll along the waterfront promenade, visit the fashionable
shops of Avenida Primera or take a tour to La Bufadora. This
is a sea geyser that puts on a highly dramatic show. |
